Robert A. Vena, L.Ac., MSTOM
Rob is a Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.) in the States of New Jersey and New York and is nationally board certified in Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). He completed the rigorous 4-year Master of Science of Traditional Oriental Medicine program at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York City (PCOM-NY).
During his clinical training in the PCOM-NY Acupuncture Clinic, Rob worked under the guidance of experts in both traditional Oriental healing techniques and current Western medical practices. He provided hands-on treatment to over 300 patients, treating a wide variety of conditions using acupuncture, auricular acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, moxibustion, Chinese herbal medicine, tui na Chinese medical massage, fire cupping, gua sha, dietetic and lifestyle counseling, meditative and breathing exercises, and Qi Gong exercise techniques. He now provides healing services to patients in his Englewood, NJ acupuncture office.
Rob has been studying and practicing Chinese Internal Style Martial Arts since 2003.
The internal martial arts of Baguazhang, Taijiquan, and Xing Yi Quan were all derived from ancient Taoist meditation techniques that also form the underlying basis for traditional Chinese medicine.
Internal martial arts place a strong emphasis on Qi development, long-term health, healing of the body, meditation, and calming of the mind. Millions of people worldwide practice these arts purely for their health benefits.
Rob began his martial arts studies at The Blue Dragon School of Martial Arts in Bergenfield, New Jersey, where he learned the foundations and basics of Baguazhang and Qigong.
Between 2007 and 2011, while a student at PCOM-NY, Rob continued his training in Qigong and Taijiquan under the guidance of Master Fukui Yang. While there, he also studied Tui Na Chinese Medical Massage under Master Yang’s tutelage.
Rob currently studies privately with Master Yang, training in Baguazhang, Taijiquan, Yiquan, Qigong and Neigong internal energy building in NYC’s Chinatown district. He also studies Medical Qigong and Daoist meditation techniques under Master Yang’s guidance.
In June of 2013, Rob participated in the Traditional Chinese Medicine World Foundation’s Wu Ming Qigong for Breast Health Workshop, where he learned to demonstrate and share with women the seven powerful Wu Ming Qigong movements for Breast Health.
Rob spent 4 years living and working in Asia, and his time there sparked an interest in Eastern philosophies and martial arts. Eventually, these interests led to the study of Chinese medicine, and after reassessing his life priorities, he turned his back on a promising career in corporate Information Technology and set out on a new course; following his true passion of helping others to experience a balanced state of health and wellness through the application of the ancient healing art of acupuncture.
Rob is also a veteran of the United States Navy, in which he proudly and honorably served for 6 years during the 1980s. After graduating from the Defense Language Institute’s intensive Russian Language Studies program, he went on to serve as an airborne crypto-linguist for the Naval Security Group. He is also a graduate of the Chubb Institute’s Computer Programming school and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management from Nyack College.
In September 2015, Rob launched his newly designed and informative website at Acupuncture-in-NJ.com.
